Ubud dari Zyrex merupakan salah satu produk yang meramaikan pasar notebook superkecil (UMPC) murah mengiringi EeePC. Ukuran layar sama-sama 7 inci, bobotnya hampir sama dengan Eee PC. Ini berbeda dengan Eee PC yang menggunakan desain charger mirip cahrger ponsel sehingga kalau dimasukkan ke colokan listrik, kepala charger membebani colokan. Dalam hal ini desain charger Ubud lebih baik, hanya saja bobotnya terlalu besar. Lebih berat dibandingkan dengan charger Eee PC. Soal bobot ini hal sensitif bagi saya yang selalu mengidamkan alat komputasi mobile.
USB slot hanya ada dua, keduanya di sisi kanan. Colokan charger juga berada di kanan. Adapun lubang kartu memori dan slot kabel serial ada di sisi kiri. Sudah ada web cam, Wi-Fi dan Bluetooth. (Eee PC ada Wi-Fi tetapi tanpa Bluetooth)
Ubud dilengkapi Windows Vista Starter Edition. Booting awal terasa lama. Begitupun eksekusi perintah. Mungkin Vista ini terlalu berat untuk ditangani dengan peranti keras yang disertakan.
Berhubung Ubud memakai hard disk, kipas sering sekali nyala. Dan ini membuatnya terasa lebih berisik dibandingkan dengan Eee PC.
Saya mencoba mengetik menggunakan Word Pad pada Zyrex Ubud. Keypad terasa jauh lebih nyaman dibandingkan dengan Eee PC.
Pengguna Ubud harus meluangkan waktu untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan mouse pola baru yang dipakai. Tidak ada mousepad, hanya ada kotak kecil touchpad yang ditempatkan di sebelah kanan. Klik kiri dan kanan menggunakan tangan kiri. Baik touchpad maupun klk kanan kiri ditempatkan di atas, dekat layar, benar-benar bikin kagok untuk yang biasa biasa menggunakan.
Indikator baterai hanya tampak dalam keadaan notebook dibuka. Jadi kalau melakukan pengisian baterai ketika notebook dimatikan atau diitutup, kita tidak bisa melihat indikator.
Tetapi secara umum, Zyrex Ubud ini sangat menyenangkan asalkan jangan punya ekspektasi berlebihan. Saya selalu menyukai alat komputasi kecil, ringan, apalagi murah. Ini salah satu notebook yang tepat bagi pemula.
